...Tropical Storm Warning In Effect...
519 am EDT Fri Sep 5 2008
... Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect...
... New information...
None.
... Areas affected...
This statement provides important information for marine interests in the following coastal waters... out to 60 nautical miles offshore from Flagler Beach Florida to Altamaha Sound Georgia.
... Watches/warnings...
A Tropical Storm Warning continues in effect for the Atlantic coastal waters out to 60 nautical miles from Flagler Beach Florida to Altamaha Sound Georgia
... Marine impacts...
Tropical Storm Hanna is forecast to continue moving on a north to northwest path well offshore and parallel to the northeast Florida and southeast Georgia coasts through tonight. Seas generated by Hanna will continue to gradually increase today as the system gets closer. Seas will slowly subside from Saturday Onward as high pressure builds over Florida in the wake of Hanna.
Maximum winds for the marine area will reach 30 to 40 knots... with gusts as high as 50 knots well offshore... and the highest seas could be up to 15 to 20 feet. Winds and seas will be highest in passing squalls. Conditions are projected to be at their worst from this morning through sunset this evening. Afterward... conditions will gradually improve as Hanna moves well north of the coastal waters.
Local mariners should prepare for tropical storm conditions due to intense winds and very high combined seas. Small craft should seek safe Harbor and then remain in port until winds and seas subside.
... Next update...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather Service in Jacksonville around noon EDT... or earlier should conditions warrant.
