... Red flag warning in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM
CDT this evening for strong winds and low humidity for fire
weather zones 249... 255... 256 and 258...

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a red flag
warning... which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT
this evening.

* Affected area... fire weather zones 249... 255... 256 and 258...
which is extreme northeast Nebraska and parts of south central
and southeast South Dakota... but not including east central
South Dakota from Brookings to Sioux Falls.

* Wind... northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

* Humidity... dropping to 20 to 25 percent.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
