Recently, I had a blog commenter ask about what weather station I used (for posting to the Weather Underground). I thought I would post a short blog entry on this topic.
I use (as I expect many do), the Davis Vantage Pro 2 (Wireless) station. Information may be gathered from Davis Instruments (www.davis.com).

Regarding my station, I also employ a separate "Weather Envoy [6316]" with my set-up that is directly connected to my home PC. Finally, I use a separate sensor pack for soil moisture and temperature. I live in a rural area and have a large vegetable garden, and this is useful to us in terms of when or when not to water.

The software that I use is the Virtual Weather Station from Ambient Weather. In fact, Ambient Weather can supply a wide variety of weather stations -- not just Davis; however, Davis Vantage Pro 2 is what I recommend.

I bought my from a reseller on Ebay for significantly under the retail pricing from both Ambient and Davis direct; however, I since bought various accessories and software from both. I still need to add a "weather cam" and have been researching this and trying out several IP based cameras and locations around my property.

Good luck to the original questioner on your research and purchase of a new weather station. We've enjoyed ours for over 3 years now and have recently just completed our 2nd year of posting to the Weather Underground.
