In this undated image provided by NASA, Mars Rover Opportunity catches its own late-afternoon shadow in a view eastward across Endeavour Crater on Mars. The view is presented in false color to make some differences between materials easier to see, such as the dark sandy ripples and dunes on the crater's distant floor. Opportunity has been studying the western rim of Endeavour Crater since arriving there in August 2011. (AP Photo/NASA/JPL-Caltech/Cornell/Arizona State University)

They need to make a machine that washes off those solar panels.

What it needs is a compressed o2 tank and an onboard compressor to refill it when the panels are clean. It could be built as a very low power draw device-as it could spend plenty of time working on the task.

Considering they were both designed for a 90 day mission Opportunity doesn't seem to want to quit! And to think they were built "on the cheap" and comprised two of the least expensive missions, ever.
